Support After Suicide Community Day
On Saturday the 22nd of November, from 11am to 3pm, we will be holding our first Support After Suicide Community Day.
As the name suggests, the day is for you – our community – to gather together, connect with each other, and to engage in activities that support you.
We have chosen this date as it is International Day for Survivors of Suicide Loss, commemorated each year on the Saturday before US Thanksgiving.
Held at The Bush Hut, a Jesuit Social Services property in Kew, the day will involve a photo exhibition, activities including art and movement, plus the opportunity to go on a nature walk.
We will be announcing a special guest speaker who will be joining us very soon. You will also be able to hear from some members of our Support After Suicide community sharing what has helped them in their own grief and remain connected to their loved ones lost to suicide.
The event will be family friendly with some activities designed specially for the younger members of our community, like face-painting and card making.
You are invited to bring some chairs or a picnic rug and enjoy the surrounds of this beautiful natural place.
Come for an hour or join us for the whole event – it’s up to you.
We will share more information about what food we will have available as we get closer to the day, you are welcome to bring your own food along too.
Click REGISTER to reserve your place.
To help cover costs on the day, we are asking for a $5.00 donation for each adult ticket to attend the day. Children (under 18) are free.
We are gathering in a natural space, so there are some things to be mindful of;
- If the weather is wet and/or windy, we may need to cancel. We will make a decision at least 36 hours before the event.
- Because we are meeting in a natural space, we will need to limit numbers, so please RSVP when you can. And if you do buy a ticket and can no longer make it, please let us know so that someone else may attend.
- Being a natural space, the ground may be uneven, so please be mindful if you have mobility issues.
