SUMMARY:Art as a Pathway Through Grief Workshop
DESCRIPTION:After the suicide of a family member or friend\, it can be difficult to see what the future holds. When words are not enough\, artmaking provides another way to give expression to grief and to integrate the loss into our lives.\nArt therapist Kathy Westfold is running creative workshop “Art as a Pathway Through Grief” as part of her Master of Art Therapy studies. The workshop will run over three sessions. \n*** When you register\, you will be registered for all three sessions – Thursday 29th of August\, Thursday 5th September and Thursday 14th of September. *** \nYou don’t have to be good at art or familiar with using art materials to participate. \nMaterials will be provided and art directives offered\, but there will be plenty of opportunity to find your own form of expression. \nParticipant numbers will be kept low to ensure a safe and supportive environment. \nKathy has received counselling through Support After Suicide and trained as a volunteer following the suicide of her son 13 years ago. \nThe workshop will form part of Kathy’s studies for her Master of Art Therapy Qualification. Consent will be sought from participants to collect feedback about their experience of the program. No identifying information about participants will be included. The feedback is for educational purposes only and will not be shared in the public realm. \nPlease note\, Support After Suicide’s events are open to residents of Victoria.
