About Us
Support After Suicide is a program which aims to increase the availability of timely and appropriate support to families, especially those with young children, who are bereaved through suicide.
We do this by both providing support to individuals, families and children who are bereaved through suicide or affected by a suicide, and by resourcing education, health and welfare professionals who have the capacity to support those affected by suicide.
Support for the Bereaved
Support After Suicide provides support, counselling and groups to children, young people and adults who are bereaved as a result of suicide. The grief following a suicide can be complex. As a bereaved person you may experience a broad range of thoughts and feelings such as sadness, anger, guilt, confusion, helplessness, despair. It can be an intense experience and you may feel out of control or overwhelmed.
Some people feel well supported by family and friends while others feel isolated, alone, misunderstood and unsupported. Reactions can be many and varied and may seem difficult to understand. In these circumstances it may assist to receive some additional information and support.
